Ego: Its Life and Death

Posted on Jun 20th, 2007 by Fa- La- La- La- La- La- La- : Love Blossom; Pitaji (oH yrteop:-) Fa- La- La- La- La- La- La-

Ah, Contemplation!! It has a way of bringing things together!! Recent ponderings: Should the ego be 'killed'? Can the ego be 'killed'? If so, how? Why? Answers: Transformation of the ego is a prerequisite for living life to its fullest. Transformation occurs by temporarily releasing the ego's strangle-hold on reality/existence. This is done by directing the ego into realms that do not directly benefit the ego e.g. selflessness; and when directed towards tasks that can directly benefit the ego, by proceeding in a state of detachment from the rewards. When the ego is utilized thusly it has access to knowledge and power not even conceivable in its former self-centered perspective. It becomes harmonized, if you will, with the cosmos; drawing on the strength of the Eternal. These acts prepare the ego for its inevitable end; bodily death. For the purpose of existence isn't only to teach us how to live, but how to die. If we wish to die into Greatness we must not get trapped in illusion; in life or death. Focusing on Light while alive is practice for focusing on LIGHT while dying.
Lovingly,

Amazing! Amazing!! TRUTH Rediscovered!!!
Here's what I've seen concerning the ego.
Ego death has nothing to do with killing the ego. In fact, you cannot kill the ego, for the ego does not exist. The mind, when clinging to ideas of separation, generates the idea of an ego, but that is simply illusion. The ego is immortal because it is fantasy. The concept of 'ego death' could be more accurately called, simply, 'Death' for this is what it is. When we die to the idea of an ego then we are free. Free from the suffering of life through a state of 'deathlessness.'
Look into yourself. Look deep, beyond mind, beyond thought, and examine your fear. Trace it back, and back. You'll see that the fear of death is the only fear; the nexus of all other. When death is experienced, through this ego death, through surrenderless surrender to the beyond, then why fear? For you'll see that life is death, and death is life.
In such a state of supra-existence the is no fear, there is no suffering. Only peace, and Love, and Pure Awareness.
